Chinese Community honours Wushu Kung-fu athletes of 20th National Sports Festival with a cash reward~NEWSEXTRA





The Chinese Community in Lagos has honoured medalists of Wushu Kung-fu at the recently concluded 20th National Sports Festival held in Edo 2021with awards and cash rewards.

The Chinese Community celebrated the athletes at the 2021 Dragon Boat Festival in Lagos, which is a traditional and important celebration in China.

The Chairman of the Chinese Industrial and Commercial Entrepreneur Association and the Huaxing Art Troupe in Lagos, Dr Eric Ni said "the Chinese Community was impressed by the feat of the athletes, despite the fact the Wushu Kung Fu was recently added as sport at the National sports festival.



He urged the athletes to always ensure that they conduct themselves and be proud in their outings, stressing that they should put more effort in winning more medals in the coming competitions.

Guests at the event are the General Manager Oyo State Sport Council, Makinde Adegboyega, the Secretary General of Wushu Kung-Fu Federation, Mrs Wasilat Aliyu-Abass and also the first Nigeria olympic gold medalist Chioma Ajunwa, who encouraged the athletes to put education first and also work hard to make their country proud.



Six medalists were awarded with plaques and cash prizes, among is the gold medalist, Oluremi Adedokun, a military officer with the Nigerian Army.

Wushu Kung-Fu was added among the 32 participating sports at the recently concluded National Sports Festival, Edo 2021, while Wushu Kung-fu athletes will feature at the 2022 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar.
