SA DIASPORA: IMO GOVERNOR TAKES BOLD STEPS TO BREAK FOOD CRISIS CYCLE; DIASPORANS MUST UNITE ON THIS~NEWSEXTRA

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Diaspora Affairs Imo State has called on Imo Diasporans, especially those experts in Agricultural Sector and those interested in investing in this sector to come home or make contact!

Recently, Covid19 has sent shockwaves through every part of our private and public lives. The impact of the pandemic is no doubt going to be more profound as days go on. However, this situation has provided us with opportunities to take stock and re-evaluate how we can do things better here in Imo State. With this in mind, the State Government has accelerated actions on Agricultural reformations and has paired up with Federal Government to significantly drive up the trend of 'Smart Farming'.

To that effect, a recent 'Agricultural Inputs Distribution' flag off event was held at Heroes Square New Owerri. Our agricultural sector  over the years have been acutely underfunded, the farming system all fragmented leaving thousands of Imo farmers desperately frustrated. However it looks like things are about to change under the new Government.

Speaking to press men on the day, SA Diaspora in the person of Hon. Cllr. Celia Osakwe-Hibbert stated that "previous lack of Government attention in our agricultural  sector has been perennially devastating, which has continually undermined our supply chain but now the new Governor, my Boss Sen. Hope Uzodinma has set out a new blueprint for 'smart farming'. So we look forward to easier ways of farming which will result to sustainable growth in our farming industry. With this, we can unlock the maximum potentials of this industry. In the very near future, food crisis will be a history in Imo State, so I urge Diasporans to come and support the 'reconstruction, rehabilitation and recovery of our agricultural sector".

Alh. Muhammad Sabo Nanono Hon. Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development was present to help distribute the agro palliatives to Imo Farmers and Seed companies.
