EDO 2020: The Tale of an Unending Fight Between a Godfather and His Godson~NEWSEXTRA

In Edo State today, it is a battle to finish between the sitting governor and his benefactor cum estranged political godfather.

It is Godwin Obaseki versus Adams Oshiomhole who have since not stopped to hit the news headlines. Really, I don't think I have ever witnessed such 'roforofo' fight before. It continues to turn dirtier by the day.

You would think they slept with each other's wives. Yes, that's how messy the fight has been. Just say it is actually a case of two fighting at the village market square.

For me, I won't support bootlicking but to attempt to decimate your own benefactor is a no-no. Yes, law number 15 in the golden book, "48 Laws of Power", by Robert Greene, says  "Crush Your Enemy Totally", but law number 1 in same book still says "Never Outshine the Master".

Obaseki made several frantic efforts to not only outshine his own master but to totally destroy him, politically.

My boss and I can be at loggerheads, but it is the height of tomfoolery for me to pull off my clothes and fight him so dirty like Obaseki has done.

Worse still, Obaseki has rebuffed reconciliatory moves by notable Nigerians, including the Senate President and Aliko Dangote who is not even a politician. Needless to say that he has even splashed the insult on the National Leader of his own party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu — " Edo is not Lagos".

Obaseki seems to have farted and excreted at the same time on a pulpit. His many sins include:

1. He chased away 15 members of the House of Assembly of 24, perceived to be loyal to Oshiomhole.

2. He issued a stern warning to Oshiomhole never to enter Edo State without his permission.

3. He attempted sending the EFCC to chase Oshiomhole over projects he (Obaseki) was part of.

4. Obaseki plotted a disgraceful removal of Oshiomhole as the National Chairman of the party.

5. Continues to harass the National Chairman of his party (Oshiomhole).

6. He continues to stand in the way of bigwigs wanting to return to the party.

Scene two... Enters Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu. He has been baptised by Oshiomhole and endorsed by other governorship aspirants.

To the best of my knowledge, as it stands in today's Edo, Ize-Iyamu is the most popular grassroot politician in the state. You can argue that though.

Ize-Iyamu was rumoured to have won the last governorship election in the state, on the PDP platform, but brazenly rigged out by certain political principalities.

Some say Obaseki is smart and stubborn and can't afford to be treated the Ambode way.
But I say, the stubbornness of the goat ends in the pot as isi-ewu and nkwobi.

Having visited Tinubu in Lagos and Buhari in Abuja, Obaseki has picked up the nomination form, but the two testicles of his scrotum continue to dangle restlessly.

If or when loses out in getting the APC ticket, he has two choices before him. He either floats a new party or he joins the umbrella party.
By the way, the PDP has continued to see Obaseki as a potential big signing for the next season in Edo.

Everyone awaits the climax of this melodrama.
